It was a miserable day mood wise. The pain started hitting me again early
in the day. I am spending half my
energy battling pain. I have to
make a further step forward before all this starts to affect my
performance. The truth is that I
don’t have the luxury in life to de-motivate myself due to pain. It’s time to get a lot tougher on
myself and just grind it out literally putting other thoughts in its place.
How is everyone doing out there with the
weight loss? Truthfully, if you
can lose 8 to 10 pounds per month on a consistent basis then any kind of total
weight loss is possible. Even if
you were like me and over 100 pounds heavier than you would like, you are
really only a year away (or less) from complete change.

Weigh In: 262
I did pretty well
hitting my short goal again today.
I really like the short term goal orientation. It gives me little bites to make big improvements. I have to go out to dinner Wednesday
and Friday which always makes weight loss more difficult so I guess I will try
to be under 260 by Sunday morning.
Today I woke up
super motivated and incredibly happy and pain free. I am excited to get to work today and make things
happen. What a change a day can
make.
I decided that I
am so pumped today that I plan to fast.
The
first thing that popped into my mind today was a strategy that a friend and
past associate of mine, Dennis Kelly believes in, that being the usefulness of
a short 24 hour fast.
Why
would Dennis pop into my head?
Well, at 70 years old he can one leg high kick 100 yards down a football
field without rest. He’s a Master of
Chi Kong, a world Karate champion and fantastically fit for any age.
Here is
what Dennis believes.

Kelly: The most natural and best
way to lose weight is cutting calories, however accomplishing this on a daily
bases is very difficult and for most almost impossible. We know from research
done with animals, cutting calories by 15 to 20 percent can increase their
life span by 15 to 30 percent. Not only do you give all the digestive organs a
chance to rest but the energy that the body takes to go through the digestive process
can be used for healing, working on new and exciting projects, and completing
nagging and unfinished tasks.
I
love the feeling of waking up in the morning on my day of fast knowing
that I don't have to stuff my mouth with food that day, (after a couple of
times fasting the body begins to crave the break from food). The next day after
the fast you wake up to the thrill of "I get to eat
today". The increased energy, feeling of well being and being
in control of my future health and fitness makes the fasting one day a
week program one of the best decisions I have not only made for myself but
everyone that I have recommend the program too.
Another
reason I really enjoy the one day a week Gator Aid fast is, the rest of the
week I get to eat without worrying about counting calories, because the stomach
shrinks and I automatically eat less.
Another
very important benefit for fasting one day a week is that it activates a gene
called "Sirtuin". Sirtuin causes histones to change, which allows us
to store our DNA more efficiently and changes the way genes are expressed.
Sirtuin also calms the p53 gene that allows young cells to prosper, even if
they make minor errors. This allows cell division to succeed more frequently
and rejuvenates our bodies with new stem cells.
The Dennis Formula: No
food for 24 hours. At least 24
ounces of Gator Aid and 48 to 64 ounces of purified water. Spread the Gator Aid throughout the day.
Now
before everyone goes off on a fasting rampage….let me stress that no one should
ever fast unless they are in good general health. A better alternative for the masses would be to choose
cleansing foods like fruits and vegetables and rely on them once a week as your
main food sources.
Being I
am in good general health with relatively normal blood sugar levels, and my
blood pressure is under control with minimal medication, today’s brick will be to use Dennis’ idea and
introduce something to myself that I will call chaos fasting. Chaos fasting means that on a
random day, whenever I feel my body tells me I am psyched to do it, (hence the
concept of chaos), I will enjoy a 24 hour fast. I like a little bit of randomness in the pattern to keep my
physiology guessing what is coming next.
